Double Down now opened

Go visit my site-specific work for the sculpture park - Deep Forest Art Land, in Kibæk, Denmark.

Here is a few words on the art work /

Double Down, consists of a unity of bundled tubular glass elements, mounted on bold geometric and circular iron construction, which embraces and carries the glass with a floating sensation.

The shape and layered structure of the glass bear reminiscences of a forest in itself - as transparent tree trunks or branches, as does the location and framing of the work, representing the characteristics, lines and shapes of the forest.

The glass will be in a constant flow of changing expression, as it will be affected by the shifting light, changing of seasons and weather conditions. In itself, it will become a kind of micro cosmos of the forest, as it will intercept e.g. dew, spruce needles, water and frost, and over time spawn algae, fungus, rust and cracks in the glass. The work both enhance, challenge and mimics several elements from nature, and subscribes to its cycle and decay, with both an immense inherent strength and fragility. Thus a mutual reflection between place and work arises, with a perspective-distorted and almost kaleidoscopic effect.

The title Double Down refers to acting with increased determination and commitment, just as the glass elements themselves consist of a duality of two composite and fused glass tubes. Where the two parts meet, they are separated by a barrier of glass enhanced with iron powder. The units seemingly holds similar properties, but will be affected with different impact - the work will thus gradually change its character by virtue of time and course of nature.
